HOPE VALLEY, R.I (WLNE) – Multiple fire departments were on scene for a large fire at the Foster Parrots Bird Sanctuary facility that broke out early Thursday morning.
The facility is located on Woodville Alton Road and is the former Chickadee Farms location across from Woodville Golf Course.
The Ashaway Fire chief said that a quarter of the building burned down in the fire, and about 80 birds tragically died.
At this time the fire is contained.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
