HOUSTON, TX — Houston Police say a human smuggling operation is believed to have been uncovered at a home Saturday night after nine men escaped captivity.
According to KTRK, Houston Police said the men were able to flee their captors and make it about two blocks away around 9:15 p.m.
The men told officers they were being held for money. They ran to a nearby restaurant to get help.
The men told police there were approximately 15 other victims inside the home, including women and children.
The other victims and the suspects involved were no longer at the home by the time officers arrived, HPD Sgt. James Jones told KTRK.
This is the latest discovery in a series of similar human smuggling operations that have been uncovered in Houston over the past month.
