Last week, Exotic Bird returned to The Masked Dancer stage more confident than ever, and we're more confident than ever in our prediction of her identity, thanks to more clues that helped confirm it.
Since week one, Exotic Bird has been full of surprises. Initially, viewers and judges were convinced that her height likely made her an athlete. A few sports clues along the way helped further those opinions. For us, however, we found a less direct reason for the sports clues. We think the statuesque beauty behind the colorful plumage is actually not an athlete herself, but rather is the daughter of one. We think Exotic Bird is American Idol star Jordin Sparks, whose father played for the NFL. At 5'10" she fits the build of Exotic Bird.
The recent clues for Exotic Bird help to confirm that prediction. Her super clue was someone getting a rose tattoo. One of Sparks' hit songs was called "Tattoo." There was a rhythm nation clue and Sparks has often performed the National Anthem at various events. She mentioned her life changing since becoming a mama bird. Sparks has a two-year-old son. Sparks also helps fulfill the 20 Grammy nominations for the cast. Brian McKnight, who was Cricket, has 16. Ice T, who was Disco Ball, has two. This leaves two more, and our pick for Zebra has one. This makes Sparks' one nomination the perfect fit.
Exotic Bird said she had been in a music video and an ad campaign. Sparks has been in many of each. She also said the word "model" means something to her, and the 31-year-old singer's husband, Dana Isaiah, is a fitness model. She mentioned both getting sick with the flu and that she could barely breathe, which made even one of the judges think of her grammy-nominated song "No Air." There was a football trophy clue, as well as word up clues of "track" and "score," which all pointed to an athlete. While we established the football likely refers to her NFL player father, Phillippi Sparks, we have an alternate interpretation of the earlier word up clues. A track could be a track on an album and a score could be a musical score. Both would make sense for Sparks.
Her performance in the Broadway play Waitress was also given a nod with the slice of pie clue and other cooking clues, which pointed to her character who baked pies. These also point to Heart of the Batter, the cooking show the pop star has on YouTube. Exotic Bird spoke of starting as a teen and winning big very quickly. There was a number 17 shown, as well as "best by '07" on a carton of eggs. All of these point to the "Battlefield" singer's American Idol win in 2007 at age 17. Sparks has her own perfume line, and a bottle of perfume was shown as a previous clue. Exotic Bird also spoke of issues with weight and relationships, which make sense with her rocky relationship with singer Jason Derulo and her open discussion about women being bullied for their weight following her own 50-pound weight loss. There are more than enough clues that appear to confirm Exotic Bird is singer Jordin Sparks.
