The Broomfield bird Club is schedule to have resident Doug Canham present his virtual talk on “The Birds of Midway Atoll, Hawaiian Archipelago,” at 7 p.m. Jan. 25.
Interested people should go to www.Broomfieldbird.club and copy the link. Then use the copied link to enter the Zoom meeting before 7 p.m. on Jan. 25.
“My wife, Lu, and I spent 9 days on Midway Atoll, Hawaiian Archipelago experiencing and photographing the magnificent concentration of birds as well as learning the interesting history of Midway Atoll during an exclusive Birding Event in March of 2010,” Canham stated in a release. “Most of the birds we photographed were pelagic, but also included a few very unusual interlopers. I will have plenty of photographs and detailed explanations of these species to share with you.”
Canham is a retired ER Doctor, practicing for 40 years, including 14 in Saudi Arabia.
“Once we were in Saudi Arabia (we) got a serious travel bug (incurable), and have since visited over 85 Countries and counting.” Canham said in the release. “I started getting serious about photography, and that led to a challenging hobby of focusing on avian species, which led to our booking our travels for the sole purpose of observing birds around the world.
“One of those trips led us to Midway Atoll, with the leader, Art Morris, an outstanding birder and bird photographer. I hope you will get as excited as my wife and I were about our experience.”
