Some specific bird species listed in the State Wildlife Action Plan as species that we need to work to protect habitat for that will benefit from this land acquisition include King rail, Kentucky Warbler, Wood Thrush, Rusty Blackbird, Short-eared owl, Bald Eagle, American woodcock, Swainson’s warbler, Blue-winged warbler, American White Pelican, Horned Grebe, Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, American Bittern, Eastern whip-poor-will, Prairie Warbler, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Prothonotary Warbler, and Red-headed Woodpecker.
