On one particularly clear recent afternoon the moon, which orbits around the Earth that in turn revolves around the sun, was easily visible in the sky. And a few nights later when I looked at it from the deck I had to look much further left to see it than I had a few nights before.
Astronomy is certainly not my forte, but I do know that both the moon and the Earth constantly revolve. When there’s a full moon it’s opposite the sun in the sky and the Earth is located between the moon and the sun.
Earlier this fall when the moon was full at times, I could see migrating birds moving through it with 10X binoculars. Passerine species like sparrows, warblers, flycatchers, and others migrate at night, while hawks, hummingbirds, and swallows migrate during the day.
