Ludhiana, June 1

The police have booked four persons, identified as Vajinder Kumar, Paramjit Singh, Pinky and Rajvir Singh, all residents of Rajiv Gandhi Colony, for allegedly beating up and taking captive an employee of the Municipal Corporation, Narinder Kumar, while he, along with another employee Vicky Kumar, was conducting a survey of slum dwellers in the colony for allotment of flats under the BUSP (Basic Services for the Urban Poor) scheme.

In his complaint lodged with the police, Narinder said the suspects misbehaved with him and his colleague and created obstruction in conducting survey which was a government duty. “The suspects snatched the survey forms from us, hurled abuses and slapped Vicky. Thereafter, they took both of us in the back of the adjoining BCM School where we were kept in captivity for nearly three hours,” said the complainant.

According to Narinder, the suspects also recorded a video as they thrashed the workers which was uploaded on the social media to further humiliate them. The police have registered a case under sections 353, 186, 341, 342, 506, 294 and 427 of the IPC. No arrest has been made in the case so far. — OC
