GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – A Northern Michigan man recently lost part his left hand and thumb in a “bird bomb” accident, authorities said.
The 51-year-old Paradise Township man had loaded a round into a “bird bomb” and accidentally released the round into his hand instead of in the air, Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Lt. Jon Morgan told WPBN/WGTU.
He was transported to Munson Medical Center for treatment, the report said.
The device is used to scare away animals, the report said. When discharged, it looks similar to a firework.
