NEW YORK (VINnews) — The Sun, a British tabloid with a circulation of millions, chose to focus its main article Thursday on the 32 Israeli children trapped in Hamas captivity. The newspaper featured the faces and names of each and every child and described how the parents, some of whom are still alive in Israel, pleaded with Hamas to release their children.
The newspaper movingly told of the “petrified youngsters are being held underground in the 311-mile network of tunnels dubbed the Gaza Metro as Israel battles to crush the jihadists and bring them home,” with the youngest hostage aged just nine months, after he was kidnapped with his mother Shiri and brother Ariel (4) from their home in Nir Oz.
One of the mothers, Maayan(50) was distraught as she saw a picture of her girls on mattresses in a tunnel under Gaza. The photo was published on Telegram by Hamas with the derisive caption “Dress them in prayer clothes”, a taunt as they are actually dressed in pajamas
Mayaan, who works in the Ben Gurion airport, asked: “Who kidnaps children? Where in the world is that the right thing to do?
“Hamas should have released them all on day one. The kids have not done anything to anyone.
“They are not soldiers, they are not related to any conflict.
“You do not abduct babies and children. My two are wonderful, sweet girls who love TikTok and Snapchat and I want them home.”
The girls had been staying with their father (divorced from Maayan).
Tragically, the dad, his new partner and her teenage son were all killed, while the two girls were taken to Gaza. Prior to their murder, Hamas published a video of the family alive in their home.
