MAIDAN, Afghanistan – At least 28 civilians who were kidnapped allegedly by the Taliban insurgents in Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak province, are freed on Tuesday, local authorities confirmed.
Abdul Rahman Tariq, Maidan Wardak governor, told Khaama Press in a phone interview that Taliban have let go of all those passengers who they have abducted last weeek, after the religious scholars and local elderlies made a formal plea for their release.
According to Tariq, 17 of kidnapees were freed soon after being captivated and the remaining 11 were released Tuesday night.
On Sunday last week, Taliban militants abducted 28 civilians in Maidan Wardak province on their way to Kabul city from area in phase I of Behsud.
These civilians were stopped and kidnapped in Siya Petab and Pul-Mehrab areas of the Jalrez district.
