"Sue Bird is the ultimate professional" -- Alysha Clark explains what it's like playing with Bird originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

Seattle Storm forward Alysha Clark joined our Joslyn Tinkle this week to reflect on the Storm’s 2020 WNBA Championship.

The 33-year-old forward is celebrating her second WNBA title in her nine years in the league.

Clark also had plenty of praise for her longtime teammate Sue Bird.

“Sue Bird – she’s special, man. To just have played alongside her my entire career has been really fun to just watch and grow and learn from.”

Clark was drafted as the 17th overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars, but didn't make the roster that year. It was in 2012, when she signed with the Storm.

She knows just how valuable it is and has been to learn from one of the best of all-time.

Clark also gave Bird a ton of praise for her longevity in the league.

It’s super impressive, not only is what she doing from a player’s standpoint just insane, but she’s doing it as the league has gotten younger, gotten faster… She’s been able to find a way to still remain very efficient, very productive.

While playing 17 seasons in the league, Bird holds career averages of 12.1 points and 5.6 assists. She's a four-time WNBA champ, an 11-time WNBA All-Star and has earned All-WNBA First Team honors five different times.

“She’s the ultimate professional. She’s incredibly humble. I joked one time like, ‘listen if I had all the accolades you had, nobody would be able to tell me anything.’ That’s just who she is,” Clark said with a smile.

Clark also mentioned Bird’s work ethic and how she’s always the first one to get shots up before practice while making sure to take care of her body.

Bird turned 40 in Oct.

“She’s always doing her rehab and recovery workouts or just fueling her body in a way that just helps her maintain and perform at that high level,” Clark said. “So when you see that on a daily basis as a teammate, it only inspires you to want to do the same and learn from that.”
