Look hoo’s stealing the spotlight!
A second barred owl — possibly the lifelong mate of Central Park’s feathered phenom — was spotted snoozing in a nearby Manhattan greenspace after temporarily ditching her weeks ago, according to local birders.
The listless lovebird, who flew the coop in late October, was seen perched in a tree near 115th Street and Riverside Drive on Thursday afternoon, roughly a mile from his celebrity girlfriend, the birding group Manhattan Bird Alert said.
“These two could be mates (these owls mate for life but are solitary outside of breeding season) or not,” the group tweeted. “We suspect that it also has a more secluded roost nearby in Riverside Park.”
As of Friday morning, Central Park’s superstar bird seemed underwhelmed that her beau had swooped back into her life — and was content to rest high in a tree near West 103rd Street.
But she probably won’t turn her beak up at him for bouncing, birders told The Post.
“Mates tend to stay near each other but not close together until breeding season,” said local birding pro David Barrett, noting the season ends in August. “They wander a bit south in autumn sometimes for more prey.”
Last week, the famed Central Park owl drew flocks of birdwatchers to the greenspace — drawing comparisons to the famous Mandarin duck of 2018.
Barrett said the owl had previously been spotted “flying together” with a possible mate on Oct. 31, when one of the birds disappeared.
After reports that the missing owl had come home to roost, excited bird buffs flocked to Twitter.
“Was watching the CP barred owl yesterday evening … Definitely another large bird came swooping in and [she] took off after it!” one birder wrote.
Another proclaimed, “So fascinating to see birdwatching become so popular in NYC.”
