IRES offers free access to virtual-showings technology

Loveland-based Information and Real Estate Services, the multiple-listing service for Northern Colorado and the Boulder Valley, is offering its customers free access to a virtual-showings company.

Subscribers to the IRES service will be given free access for two months to the Matterport starter plan from Matterport Inc., an artificial-intelligence-driven company based in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Matterport creates virtual walkthroughs of interiors by converting panoramic images into 3D viewings or “digital twins.”

Customers can use Matterport’s 3D capture cameras or an iPhone application. The technology also forms a “dollhouse” model that is a detailed floor plan.

Though Matterport has other uses, including tours of museums, it has a focus on real estate.

IRES will provide its subscribers with a promo code for Matterport that needs to be used before July 31.

Bird restarts e-scooter service in Fort Collins

Bird restarted its e-scooter service in Fort Collins, which was suspended in late March because of the coronavirus stay-at-home rules.

The city and Colorado State University launched a yearlong e-scooter pilot program with Bird last October; the trial has been extended until the end of 2020.

Rentals of the electric scooters cost $1 to start a ride, plus a 25- to 30-cent per-minute fee. Summer operating hours allow rides until 9 p.m.

The program is offering free rides to health-care workers and emergency personnel.

Advanced Energy moves HQ to Denver from Fort Collins

Power-controls developer Advanced Energy Industries Inc. has moved its official headquarters from Fort Collins to Denver, marking a loss of a $2.64 billion corporate headquarters from Northern Colorado.

The company’s headquarters was registered at its 1625 Sharp Point Drive address in Fort Collins as late as Feb. 24, according to regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. However, the company listed its address at its 1595 Wynkoop St. offices in Denver on its annual report filed March 3.

The company in April filed a correction of its principal offices, reflecting the change to Denver, with the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office.

Spokesman Brian Smith said the company has moved most of the senior executives, along with other administrative divisions, to the LoDo neighborhood.

“We have outgrown our facility in Fort Collins … so we made the decision to rent some space in downtown Denver right across from Union Station,” he said.

Advanced Energy was founded in Fort Collins in 1981. In an interview with BizWest in February 2019, CEO Yuval Wasserman said the company would open an office in Denver to be closer to its legal and accounting advisers but would not relocate the headquarters there.

Smith said the company still will have a presence in Fort Collins, most recently by signing a 15-year lease on its research facility in the city’s northeast corner. He declined to specify the number of employees in each location.

Advanced Energy’s formal change of address marks another loss of a publicly traded company in Northern Colorado.

UQM Technologies Inc., previously headquartered in Weld County, sold itself to Danfoss Power Solutions Co. last July.
