Prairie Lakes Audubon will hold its first in-person gathering since last summer at 12 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Spruce Hill County Park, 13148 Spruce Hill Park Road NE near Miltona.
The group will gather for a picnic at the shelter house down by the river at the end of the park's driveway. Participants should bring their own meal and non-alcoholic beverages.
Following the picnic, Tom Ries will lead the group on a bird outing. Last year, a black billed cuckoo, an olive sided flycatcher, and a common yellowthroat were seen at this park, and a yellow-bellied sapsucker is also a possibility.
"We never know what we will see, but we will have a good time as we walk the trails," the society said in a news release.
Birdwatchers should bring their binoculars.
There is no cost to attend this program, and the public is invited.
Prairie Lakes Audubon Chapter is the local chapter of National Audubon Society for anyone interested in birds and nature. It meets monthly and takes at least one birding field trip each month.
