After pulling its e-scooters from Fort Collins streets over the coronavirus pandemic, Bird will bring its fleet of scooters back to town this month.
Bird scooters will relaunch in Fort Collins on Wednesday, according to the city, which — alongside Colorado State University — is in the middle of a year-long e-scooter pilot program with Bird.
Bird first deployed 500 e-scooters across the city and CSU campus back in October 2019 and the company logged roughly 25,000 rides in its first month in the Choice City.
Initially set to expire after 12 months, the Fort Collins pilot e-scooter program has been extended until the end of 2020, the city said in a statement to the Coloradoan.

Like in other cities, e-scooters were pulled from Fort Collins in March. Fleets were entirely removed or greatly diminished at the onset of the pandemic in Colorado to "deter non-critical mobility," Bird told 9News at the time.
E-scooters started to return to Denver in late April.
Starting Wednesday, July 8 — after the return of Fort Collins' e-scooter program — the scooters' operating hours will allow for rides until 9 p.m.
Bird will also offer free rides for health care workers and emergency personnel who email a copy of their medical identification card along with their name and phone number to together@bird.co.
