Up to 1.600 tigers living in captivity here in Europe, shows a new report from the international dyrerettighedsorganisation Four Paws.
“It is deeply reprehensible that the legislation in Europe is so poor that there are examples of wild animals like tigers and lions, which are kept by private individuals in their home, or that the animals being used as selfierekvisitter,” says director of World Animal Protection Denmark Gitte Buchhave and continues:
“It should not be legal anywhere in the world, and Europe should take the lead in prohibiting the cruel industry with the trade in wild animals.”

And even in countries such as Germany, France and Spain there is no legislation around the private keeping of wild animals as tigers, inform World Animal Protection Denmark.
