The Broomfield Bird Club is pleased to announce its free September presentation “Curious Corvids,” by Curt Frankenfeld, president of the Denver Audubon Board, on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Go to BroomfieldBirdClub.com and scroll down to the Zoom link.
Corvids include crows, ravens, rooks, blue jays, magpies and nutcrackers.
“The Curious Corvids presentation is a dive into this fascinating worldwide bird family,” Frankenfeld said. “These smart birds are the subject of legends and myths – from wise ones to tricksters and harbingers of life and death, these birds receive credit for many things in human existence. We’ll take a quick look at the legend and science of some common corvids of Colorado.”
Frankenfeld also teaches Beginning Birding programs for the Denver Audubon Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Douglas Land Conservancy and many other organizations. He is a Colorado Native Plant Master and leads native plant tours in addition to birding tours and general nature hikes, mostly in Douglas County.
Broomfield Bird Club is a social club, open to anyone interested in finding out more about birds and their habitats. We are a completely all-volunteer board and registered as a nonprofit organization. Yearly dues are $20 per family, which is used mostly for speakers and to support bird-related local rehabs. Presentations are held every second Tuesday of the month (with exceptions), and bird walks every second Saturday of the month, with intermittent bird walks whenever someone would like to lead.
