Two Seattle icons sat down to interview each other during ESPN’s NFL Countdown over the weekend.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird shared their appreciation for one another in the recent interview and we are here for it!
The two, of course, started off their discussion with the game where Wilson sported a Sue Bird jersey ahead of Sunday Night Football's matchup when Seattle hosted the Minnesota Vikings in early Oct. The 32-year-old QB was looking to congratulate the 2020 WNBA champions the best way he knew how.

Bird recalled that Sunday Night Football moment.
Her phone wouldn’t stop buzzing.
I was getting hit up left and right. Like my phone was going crazy. I was like, ‘what happened? What happened?’ And it was like, ‘oh Russell Wilson wore your jersey to his game!!’ And I was like, ‘Oh what?’

Bird is extremely appreciative of Wilson’s support for so many reasons.
When somebody of Russell’s caliber with that platform, wears your jersey for the world to see and talks about you in a level playing field -- it’s special. It means a lot.

After the Seahawks beat the Vikings, 27-26, Wilson had a big smile on his face when he said he channeled his inner Sue Bird, who, by the way, is a 4x WNBA champion, 11x All-Star, and 5x All-WBA First Team recipient.
I feel like Sue Bird in the clutch.

During the recent ESPN interview, Wilson also talked about how much he appreciates Bird’s signal calling ways as the Storm point guard.
“When you think about it, you’re playing quarterback out there and when I’m sitting there, even though I don’t have handles like you have it, I really love processing how you’re seeing everything… I see the field the same way you’re seeing [the court].”
You’ve changed the game and if I can be like Sue Bird, I know I’m doing something right.
